cure for the common cold...............

I've had a horrid cold for the last 5 days, I'm totally fed-up with it, so I've been listening to the 'ladies of letters', they always make me chuckle. originally they were serialised on BBC Radio 4's 'Woman's Hour'. two ladies who are 'great friends' but with all the one up-man ship that ladies of a certain age have. very English.
I adore radio 4 and was first introduced to it's delights when I started working in costume wardrobe departments, (about 22 yrs ago GLUP!!!). I don't know if every wardrobe department listens to Radio 4, but about 99% of wardrobe people I've met do.
I think it's that comfort of the story telling thing. there is nothing better than a ghost story on the radio , on a blustery autumn afternoon. And of course audio books are just my idea of bliss.

So glad you found me, as I have so enjoyed reading your posts. Could'nt agree more with you about your own appearance and HBC. I have lost the b...s and have gained too much weight to dress how I would really love to, I admire you for being you. I too adore HBC and I wish the press would just back off and pick on some anorexic, plastic wanna be instead.
Keep in touch

LOL, I don't think it is just ladies of a certain age who have that kind of friendly rivalry! I HAVE to borrow audio books when I have a big boring job on.
BTW, I loved your BUGGERTHAT comment re.calming down the dress sense when you get on a bit. :)

All the nicest people listen to R4! I do too as it happens! Not so much when I'm working though. I've a terrible habit of staring into space the way some people stare at a TV screen - except when it's the radio you look a bit barmy.... or maybe I am a bit barmy.... oh dear! t.x

Hello, there! I'd like to say 'ditto' to everything Viv (hensteeth) said, and laurie too- I've had a great time reading your blog...and yep, HBC is fab, isn't she? As for the jam, I remember doing one of hers (Nigella) that didn't need a thermometer and the sugar just went in the oven...wish I could remember it now! Is that the recipe you're using, I wonder?

Good to find you!
